Preparing for White Day(화이트데이) in Japan & Korea
Valentine’s Day was just over on February 14, but did you know that March 14 is White Day 화이트데이 in Japan and Korea?
Almost exclusively celebrated in East Asia, White Day is a day where the ladies “hear” the replies to their confessions via honmei chocolates – if they receive candy from the guy they like, it means “Yes I like you too” and if there’s nothing from the guy, then well, too bad. You can celebrate Black Day ^^ in Korea and eat JjaJangMyeon 짜장면 because it’s black. ^^
It’s a big deal in Korea. Look at these Kpop groups (JYJ on top and Teen Top here) working so hard to thank their female fans.
So remember, in Korea and Japan, unlike the western counterparts, the guys don’t do anything for the ladies! They wait to receive chocolates from the women. What do us guys have to do on White Day?
Buy a bouquet of candy like this. (Depending on your budget, other optional stuff include teddy bear, cookies, chocolates, but the CANDY is a MUST) I’m not so sure about the kneeling part, unless you plan to propose too. But the girlfriend says Korean guys do it, so. ^^;;
Or if you’re a cheapo, you can buy a single candy lolly. But make sure it’s a big one! ^^
Happy White Day! ^^
